How deep is the submarine tour in Hawaii?
The Atlantis submarine descends to 100 feet on its standard Adventure Tour. The Odyssey Tour reaches 130 feet — one of the deepest tourist submarine experiences in the US. At this depth, natural light is limited and the submarine illuminates the reef and shipwreck with external lights. The descent takes 5–10 minutes. Passengers sit in a pressurized cabin with large oval viewing ports approximately 20 inches in diameter. The submarine passes over a 1942 YO-257 fuel barge sunk deliberately to create an artificial reef, now hosting hundreds of fish species. The experience is entirely passive — passengers sit and observe while the pilot navigates. No prior experience, certification, or swimming ability is required. Maximum passenger weight limits apply; check with Atlantis directly if this is a concern for your group.
