Is the Secret Falls Kauai worth it?

Yes — Secret Falls (Uluwehi Falls) is one of Kauai's most rewarding half-day experiences. The journey involves a 5-mile round-trip kayak on the Wailua River followed by a 30-minute hike through bamboo forest and stream crossings. The 100-foot waterfall drops into a clear swimming pool where you can swim and cliff jump. The combination of kayaking, hiking, and swimming makes it genuinely adventurous without being extreme. Guided tours with operators like Kauai Tour Guy ($95–250) include all equipment and local commentary; the guides know the best swimming spots and photograph the group at the falls. It's not worth it if you're pressed for time (allow 4–5 hours) or dislike getting wet. Wear water shoes, apply sunscreen before departure, and bring a dry bag for your phone. Morning tours have the best light for photography.
